The show Friday Saturday night at Tommy Doyle's in Harvard Square went well. Apologies to anyone who didn't make it in or had to wait a long time in line because the place reached capacity. We had a little trouble hearing our vocals through the monitors this time, but we were told by reliable sources that what was going out to the house sounded fine. Here was the set:
Heals
This Time the Angels Walk the Line
Who Will Ride?
Call Me Elvis Now
The Snow is on the Grass Again
ATM Song
Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues (Dylan)
It's Getting Late
Dance and Drink Wine
The Ship

A few highlights
It was nice to get "Who Will Ride" back in there. Sometimes you forget how powerful a song is to play when you haven't done it in a while.
Also super fan Michelle distributed some clever buttons expressing her regret at missing the show(s). They were pretty funny. All featured pictures of her at various levels of maturation and had lines like: "It's Gettin Late Sand Machine. That's why I'm not at the show." or "My name is Michelle and I would have been at this show if I could." or "I've been listening to Sand Machine all my life. Well not quite, 10 years." etc. I'm killing these but you get the idea. Her recent school schedule has hindered her super fanhood. The gesture was nice though. Thanks.
LOL...when you explain them that way
they sound far less clever and much more wordy! "Various levels of maturation" makes them sound particularly peculiar. And btw...nowhere did it say "My name is Michelle"...thanks for ruining my anonymity ;)
anyway...You're Welcome!
Really enjoyed hearing "Heals"
I was glad to hear you guys play "Heals" on Sat. night. I went to listen to my copy of R.O.T.T.F.W. and it was cracked from wear. It was really cool that you through that back into the mix. The song is powerful and reminds me of the many solo trips i've taken on the T , listening to my discman.
Thanks :)+-
ROTTFW
We can get you another copy...
Singing the "Sorry for the way that went..." over the "Time don't you know..." at the end was something we hadn't originally done when we played "Heals" live before recording it. While in the studio we came up with the idea. I think it came out pretty good.
Mai plays some really nice stuff on that track.
