I was walking today on what seemed to be a quiet street while listening to my Ipod. After listening to a such somber song (Gone Til November by Wycleaf Jean), the energy of one of my favorite Sand Machine song from the new CD Conference, "Let the Demons Die," took over my earphones. Suddenly I found my brain ringing with a mellifluously offensive banjo playing in the background and a variety of lead guitars gyrating in my eardrums that made feel like I was a 50-year old virgin on Ecstasy in a despicably underage rave party.
And then the song ended and got me thinking... If I was stuck in an island with my Ipod and all I have for music in my Ipod are all the Sand Machine albums, what 10 Sand Machine songs would I listen to? And this is what I mentally noted in my head to remember:
1. Same Old Goes
2. Noly Noly Crimbellum
3. Something in the Night
4. The Ship
5. Chosen Side
6. Let the Demons Die
7. WZ Mandeus
8. Not Sure I Can
9. The Difference Is
10. Heals
Thanks for the post doubleclick. I think I'll have a go at this here top ten, though it may be against some kind of code if you're in the band. Oh well. These are in no order and are based on how the song came out, not what it is like to perform. That may be a separate list.
1. Not Sure I Can
2. You Say You Love Me
3. Noly Noly Crimbellum
4. Something in the Night (not ADD)
5. The Ship
6. (traditional)
7. It's Gettin Late
8. Fantasy & Farewell
9. Now They're Together
10. ATM Song
1. Late August
2. Fantasy and Farewell
3. Noly Noly Crimbellum
4. Put a Brave Face On
5. Dance and Drink Wine
6. The Ship
7. Blue Glass in the Sky
8. Not Sure I Can
9. Mystery Track #4
10. Heals
10. Stick Around Some More
10. W.Z. Mandias
10.Running of the Tree Frogs Week
10. Something in the Night (live)
10. To Wherever You Are
10. You Say You Love Me / Most Heavy Day
In no specific order...
Lazy Sunday
Running of the Tree Frogs
Look What's Happening
Dance and Drink Wine
Stick Around Some More
The Ship
The Difference Is
Not Sure I Can
Smoke and Music (yet to be released UGH)
File Under Clothes Considered aka the Bra Song
We did basic tracks for "Smoke and Music" when we recorded Conference. A finished version may definitely show up down the road. It just didn't quite fit in the flow of the album.

But I have no problem with that. "Something in the Night (live)" mean the shorter version (starting with "In his blue journal...")?
Yes
My favorite part of that song is the guitar interlude/solo. When you start with "In his blue journal...", you get there more quickly.
